Sean’s a better story teller, so stealing this snippet from him …. “I’ve always liked to tell people we met at the worlds greatest arena on August 26th, 2009. Home of the New York Rangers, Madison Square Garden. That is all true, but it’s not the whole truth. The night we met in that building, we both happened to be attending a Britney Spears circus themed concert. Please don’t ask why. There were contortionists contorting, unicyclists unicycling and a singer lip-syncing. We screamed small talk with each other over hits from the early 2000’s. Love was in the air.
A short while after, we went on our first few dates and I got to know this incredible girl who survived on chicken fingers and pizza while impressively drinking 24oz cans of Budweiser. Our first real date was to an 80’s night in New Paltz. We were equally terrible but inventive dancers. I was the only one dressed up in an 80’s appropriate outfit so that was awkward (luckily Shannon dug my enthusiasm). We had a romantic moment of running through the automatic lawn sprinklers of a Longhorn Steakhouse that night. They were on power washer/ super soaker mode and kind of hurt. It wasn’t like in the movies at all. I remember driving home that night and I knew that this was the girl I would marry one day. I knew she was the love of my life.
Here we are almost ten years later. We have a beautiful little girl and Shannon hasn’t had a Bud in like 7 years. We have life insurance and a favorite brand of dish soap. Other than that, absolutely nothing has changed.”
